DANSKO SENDS FOOTWEAR IN SUPPORT OF PHILIPPINE TYPHOON VICTIMS
Tuesday, November 19, 2013

West Grove, PA: In response to the horrific destruction in the Philippines, Dansko will be sending 2,200 pairs of children’s shoes to the Southeast Asian island nation.

“For us, giving back to the local and global community is a guiding principle and our relief effort for the Philippines is part of our ongoing partnership with Soles4Souls,” says Dansko Co-Founder, President and CEO Mandy Cabot.  “We work with Soles4Souls because they are very effective in their efforts to reach people in need, and in this case by providing for the survivors and their families in the Philippines.”

Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based nonprofit group that distributes shoes to people in need across the U.S. and around the globe. At least 200,000 new pairs of shoes have already been committed to the efforts in the Philippines. The typhoon has devastated entire communities and personal property items – such as shoes – have been swept away. The provision of safe, sturdy shoes to children is one step of many in the long rebuilding process ahead.

About Dansko: Founded in 1990 by wife and husband team, Mandy Cabot and Peter Kjellerup, Dansko, literally translated as “Danish shoe,” leads the comfort footwear market in award-winning design and customer service. Today, we are 185 employee-owners strong, changing the quality of people’s lives through our products, our passion, and our commitment to a better tomorrow. Learn more at Dansko.com.

About Soles4Souls: Soles4Souls is a global not-for-profit institution dedicated to fighting the devastating impact and perpetuation of poverty. The organization advances its anti-poverty mission by collecting new and used shoes and clothes from individuals, schools, faith based institutions, civic organizations and corporate partners, then distributing those shoes and clothes both via direct donations to people in need and by provisioning qualified micro-enterprise programs designed to create jobs in poor and disadvantaged communities. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Soles4Souls is committed to the highest standards of operating and governance, and holds a four-star rating with Charity Navigator. Learn more at soles4souls.org.
