Dansko Attends Small Business Owner Meeting with President Obama
Thursday, November 29, 2012

Mandy Cabot, CEO of Dansko joins 14 Other Small Business Owners for Meeting at the White House

November 29, 2012.  West Grove, PA. -  Dansko announced today that co-founder and CEO, Mandy Cabot, was one of 15 small business owners to meet with President Obama at the White House on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, to discuss the potential impact of upcoming tax and economic policy changes on small businesses.

“It was the opportunity of a lifetime,” said Cabot, Dansko CEO. “President Obama was engaging and appeared genuinely interested in the stories of the business owners at the table.”

The group met with both President Obama and Vice President Biden along with several representatives from the Small Business Administration as well as presidential staff members.  After brief introductions the President asked the owners to share their company’s story.

“I was thrilled to be the first to speak and shared the journey Dansko has taken over the past 20 years from selling shoes out of the back of our station wagon to today, a 100% employee owned company and founding B Corp member with 185 employees. When President Obama mentioned that it sounded like a great place to work, Vice President Biden reminded him that he already had a job!” said Cabot.

Mandy mentioned that all participants reinforced the fact that in addition to creating a significant number of jobs, small businesses are actually the fastest growing segment of the job market.

“As a 100% employee owned company, we have very little turnover and our employees are invested in the future of the company, ensuring job stability as well as growth,” added Cabot.

Tuesday’s meeting was one of several that President Obama has scheduled to gather input and feedback from small business experts regarding tax policy and the fiscal cliff.

Cabot shared that among the 15 small businesses in attendance there was another 100% employee owned company, one other shoe company, and four additional B corporations present for the meeting.
